Our History

The American Aviator Laureate Society (AALS) was established as a national aviation achievement honors society in 2024 in Washington D.C. by a coalition of flight instructors from large U.S. flight schools and active airline pilots working for major U.S. airlines. This initiative emerged in response to the shifting landscape of airline hiring practices, where most U.S. airlines, in the wake of the post-pandemic hiring surge, had dropped traditional degree requirements for employment.

Recognizing a growing demand for academic and professional recognition within the flight training environment, both from flight school graduates and airline hiring teams, AALS was created to preserve and promote the traditional values of academic honors in aviation education. By celebrating excellence in flight training, the society ensures that outstanding achievements are acknowledged, providing motivation and distinction to aspiring aviators entering the competitive aviation industry.

Our Mission

AALS has a Mission. A Mission That Works for You.

The American Aviator Laureate Society (AALS) focuses on three core mission elements that align with its purpose of promoting excellence in flight training and fostering future aviators:

Blessed
Recognition of Excellence

AALS celebrates outstanding achievements by flight school graduates through the formal recognition of academic and practical performance during flight training. By awarding honors and distinctions, the society encourages a culture of dedication, professionalism, and continuous improvement among aspiring pilots.

Blessed
Scholarship Funding

AALS provides financial assistance to deserving students who demonstrate exceptional commitment and potential in their aviation training. Through scholarships funded by society proceeds, AALS aims to remove financial barriers and support the development of the next generation of highly skilled aviators.

Blessed
Employment Streamlining

AALS offers a certified achievement program that formally recognizes top-performing flight school graduates, providing airlines with a trusted benchmark for identifying exceptional talent. This certification allows high-achieving pilots to stand out during the hiring process, facilitating faster recognition and placement with major airlines while addressing the industry’s demand for skilled and professional aviators.
